Cast iron fire pot with lid – ideal for fire pits on camping holidays
The largest Petromax FT18 Dutch oven is not only suitable for use directly over the campfire or on the barbecue, but can also be used directly in the embers thanks to its sturdy feet. This makes it ideal for any camping adventure with family or friends. The FT18-T is also ideally equipped for ovens or over a gas flame. The robust cast iron makes it a versatile and durable companion. The durable cast iron mould is suitable for cooking, roasting, braising and baking. The surface is pre-treated (seasoned finish), so the Dutch oven can be used immediately without seasoning. The lid has a raised rim and thus allows embers, e.g. from the Petromax Cabix Plus charcoal, to be placed directly on the pot. This means that the pan can be heated evenly from all sides and can also be used for baking bread, for example.
FT18: Ideally suited for large groups
The Petromax Dutch Oven FT18 has a volume of 16.1 litres. It can be used to prepare meals for 20 or more people. A practical notch in the handle ensures secure suspension above the fire. There is a recess for inserting a thermometer. The lid can also be used upside down as a pan with a capacity of 2.7 litres. As the pot gets very hot, the Petromax Aramid pot holders are useful and valuable helpers.
The cast iron of the pot offers very good heat storage, which is particularly beneficial for braised dishes. Thanks to the even heat distribution, the Dutch oven is also ideal for baking. The pot’s constantly developing patina ensures a natural non-stick effect.
Easy cleaning and care of the Dutch oven
Clean with a little warm water and a brush; stubborn incrustations can be easily removed with a ring cleaner. Under no circumstances should washing-up liquid be used, as this destroys the valuable patina. From time to time, the pot should be rubbed with a little neutral vegetable oil or Petromax care paste in order to enjoy the cast iron for a long time.
