The original Volkswagen bike carrier is suitable for both the manual and the electric tailgate of the T6.1 / T6 California and Multivan. It is ideally suited for the space-saving transport of up to four bicycles. The carrier can be loaded with a load of up to 60 kg. Each of the rails can carry a bicycle weighing a maximum of 17 kg. If the rear rack is not loaded, the tailgate can still be opened (manually or electrically).
The bike rack for the rear of the VW T6.1 / T6 California is completely pre-assembled. Films protecting the paint should be attached to the vehicle. These are included in the scope of delivery. Before installation, the gap between the tailgate and the SBBR light (rear light) must be checked. The minimum gap must be 4.5 mm on both sides.
The wheel is mounted with a tension belt. With the lockable 4th space holder, the carrier also provides an anti-theft device.

If necessary, the gas pressure springs on the tailgate must be replaced.

The carrier cannot be used with a high roof or if a rear / roof edge spoiler has been retrofitted. In addition, it is not provided for vehicles with a decorative film on the rear.
